No arrests were made in either of the verbal incidents, and police did not disclose who was involved, citing the department's domestic violence privacy guidelines.
Stephen Guillaume, 35, fatally stabbed his girlfriend, Virginia Vasquez, 32, Saturday night after she told him she wanted to break up, police said. Guillaume then killed himself, police said.
Neither Guillaume nor Vasquez had a current order of protection at the time of the killing, police said.
Vasquez's 14-year-old daughter was cut on her hand when she tried to help her mother during the stabbing. The teen was hospitalized and underwent surgery. Police did not disclose the ninth-grader's condition Monday.
Vasquez's family has described a strained relationship between the couple, who had a 7-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son together.
Vasquez, a dog groomer who was known as "Bibi" and who grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, also was the mother of a 15-year-old daughter.
The couple had been together nine years, but recently Vasquez told her sister Sandra Vives she wanted to leave Guillaume, Vives has said.
Guillaume in 2006 pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault. The victim was not identified in online court records. A three-year order of protection was issued in that case. Suffolk district attorney's office spokesman Robert Clifford did not respond to a message Monday.
Guillaume was sentenced to six months probation in October 2010 after pleading guilty to a felony charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Guillaume's family could not be reached for comment. Vasquez's family did not respond to messages Monday.
