To all of our partners, supporters and well-wishers, who shared words of encouragement throughout this entire ordeal, we thank you for taking the time out to sow into such a worthy cause. The original Headstone, which only had Yvonne Willett's, Diane's mother, portrait and inscription on it, was removed on 5/29/2013. Through your investment, it will allow Diane's only child, her daughter, N'Daya(a Domestic Violence Survivor) to add an inscription and portrait of her beloved mother on the Headstone along with her grandmother. We'll keep you posted on all of the activity regarding this process and when the Headstone returns. Again, we thank all of you for your kindness and generosity towards this sensitive process, as we solicit your prayers for Diane's memory, as well as for her daughter. Grace & Peace!
The staff at the Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, Inc, a registered 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Educational Organization and the Diane L. Parker Educational Resource Fund. When your mother dies
It doesn't matter how old you are. You still feel like an orphan because You've lost your guiding star. She's the one you've always turned to Whenever anything went wrong. She's the one who cleaned your skinned knees And chased nightmares away with a song. She was there to celebrate All your important days with you, Like birthdays, and holidays, And your very first day of school. It was easy to take her for granted Because you knew she'd always be there, Until the day that she wasn't, And you discovered life truly wasn't fair. So each Mother's Day take a moment to Remember the best things about her, Like her gentle hands and open arms, And how close the two of you were. And you can be sure she's in Heaven Thinking of you on this day above any other. That's because you are the wonderful reason That she became a MOTHER! RIP Grandma Bert, Aunt Yvonne and my beloved "sister," Diane! May your souls rest in richly peace. Happy Mother's Day Love you always, Keidy! On February 15, 2013, I was on the program to offer the prayer of comfort for my cousin, Diane L. Parker. As the church filled to capacity, I asked one of the greeters at Faith Baptist Church, where her Homegoing was being held, for a purple ribbon. She replied, "No! These are for women who have been victimized by Domestic Violence." I explained to her, "How do you know I'm NOT a victim?" I took it with a grain of salt and went back to my pew and prayed for the spirit of my beloved cousin, who we lost as a result to Domestic Violence at the hand of her estranged husband. The Holy Spirit made a visitation and impartation at that moment and charged me to create the Diane L. Parker Educational Resource Fund, to provide intervention, education and monetary resources to Domestic Violence survivors, but to also start a movement called "TEAM ADV-Ance", which stands for, "Together Everyone Achieves More Against Domestic Violence" Our hope, through this movement, that we'll be able to better serve the community by offering information, intervention, advocacy and education, through workshops, forums and conferences. Since I am a product of the HIP HOP(Helping Individuals Prosper, Honoring Others Potential) Movement, with God's help, Myself, along with my wife, Altanya, have dedicated our lives to bringing the "MANNA from Heaven" in the form of TEAM ADV-Ance. We'll be looking to have Domestic Violence walks, special events, fundraisers and special gatherings, to not just acknowledge the fact Diane L. Parker was a victim to this senseless crime, but to let a community of battered men, women and children know they have a voice who cares and an ear who will listen. The Word of God teaches us that there were few individuals, in the Holy Writ, that suffered at the hands of Domestic Violence, but the one Word that stood out in my studies was, "And they stripped Him and put a SCARLET(purple)robe on Him(Jesus)"(Matthew 27:28). Domestic Violence is so real, it goes back 2013 years to the Cross, but we, as the local assembly of the Household of Faith, need to stop acting so much like church and be the "HOSPITAL" and come together and minister to those who have been beating, maimed, pillaged, "STRIPPED" and when it's too late , they will be remembered by receiving a SCARLET ribbon as a sign of the crime which was committed against them. We must commit, as a community our TIME, our TALENT, our TITHE, our TACT, our TENACITY and our TEACHING, to bring Domestic Violence Awareness to the past, existing and future generation, and being the advocates to make the House that God built a better place and rid it of abuse and neglect, for "Together Everyone Achieves More Against Domestic Violence"..#TEAM ADV-Ance.. RIP Diane L. Parker(10/18/70-2/7/13) The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, Inc® would like to thank everyone who participated in this most devastating and sensitive cause. We were grateful to have people from all over the country to come and selflessly partner with our Foundation to insure Diane's daughter, N'Daya, will be able to have a Headstone on her Mom's resting place. What really was a blessing to the the cause was an investor(Elizabeth J.), who partnered with the Foundation made an investment of $25.00. Not only did it take the Headstone project over the expectation, she made mention in her letter to the Foundation she was a former church member with Diane at Faith Baptist Church Cathedral in Hempstead, New York and she also knew Dollicia F. Holloway, who lived up the street from her on Mason Street in Hempstead. It moved me to tears to know how she knew both ladies connected to this worthwhile cause, so it gave credence that God was truly in the midst of this whole project.
The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, Inc ® will sponsor Diane's daughter in the purchasing of her Mother's Headstone{right on time for her first Mother's Day without her Mom :( }. The process takes a few weeks, but we'll update everyone, who was pivotal in making this cause a success for Diane, her family and loved ones and others who were touched by her tragic death. A "Thank You" Journal is being created for those who partnered with her cause and a "ribbon cutting" ceremony is in the works once the Headstone, with Diane's picture and inscription on it, is returned. With your help, we'll continue to move forward with creating Educational opportunities, through the creation of Scholarships, for HS Students, whose parents were victims of Domestic Violence through the Diane L. Parker Educational Resource Fund ®. Through a variety of fundraising opportunities , community partnerships and corporate sponsorships, we plan on bringing awareness of Domestic Violence to all who have been affected by this senseless crime. If you know of anyone who is being victimized or appears to be in an unhealthy relationship, you can't afford to turn a blind eye. Burgess, Executive Director Altanya Gerald-Burgess, Deputy Executive Director Cleveland C. Delaney, Program Facilitator The Diane L. Parker Educational Resource Fund®, c/o The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, Inc®, a registered 501(c)(3)Not-For-Profit Educational Organization DLN:17053064351033 Public Charity:170(b)(1)(A)(vi) It was eerie and sad at the same time when I came to Diane's house on 2/11/2013, 4 days after she was murdered, to found this note she wrote 2 years ago. She was going to help me with my 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit, The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation. She was going to plan a fundraiser to honor my Aunt(who the foundation is named after)50th anniversary of being a Jet centerfold. We were going to raise funds to help create scholarships to assist H.S. Seniors to go to college in her memory. Needless to say, my heart is full to know my Aunt's Foundation is now covering your memory, Diane, through your Educational Resource Fund, to create scholarships for children of victims of Domestic Violence. May both of your souls rest in richly peace, beyond the river, in Paradise. God bless you. Dollicia F. Holloway(July 11, 1944-January 1, 1971) Diane L. Parker(October 18, 1970-February 7, 2013) Dollicia's death came 42 years before yours, as you went to Glory at age 42..But, I'm remind it took 42 generations for Jesus Christ to come into the World.(Matthew 1:17) to seek and save those from the hands of death, hell and the grave. Now you both are angels, rejoice in the Presence of God,the One who took you unto Himself! Love you & miss you both, Keith B. And it came to pass, that when Diane Parker passed away, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: Domestic Violence also died, and was BURIED(Luke 16:22-The Keith H. Burgess New Living Translation). Stop Domestic Violence!
